Ventura County legislators voted to leave fentanyl bills stalled in committee
Thousand Oaks, Calif. – Ventura County Republican Party Chairman John Andersen blasted Ventura County Assemblymembers Jacqui Irwin, Steve Bennett & Jesse Gabriel for voting to leave three fentanyl-related bills stalled in the Assembly Public Safety Committeee on Monday.
“Ventura County’s Democrat Assemblymembers refuse to take the action needed to protect our kids from the dangers of fentanyl,” said Chairman Andersen. “It’s almost like they care more about leaving drug dealers on our streets than they do about keeping kids safe.”
“These so-called leaders don’t seem to understand that one pill can kill,” Andersen continued. “This scourge isn’t like any other drug issue we’ve seen in our lifetime. We need leaders who will lead, not march in lockstep with Democratic leadership in Sacramento.”
“How many kids must die before the California Legislature takes action to fight this epidemic? The failure of our elected officials to take action is a slap in the face to every single parent who has a child in Ventura County.”
The vote to leave these three bills stalled in the Assembly Public Safety Committee comes just one day before National Fentanyl Awareness Day 2023.
